After making my first quilt, I was itching to start another, so this was the perfect opportunity. I received my fabrics in December, and the project had to be done by the end of January - not a long time to finish a quilt, but I liked the challenge. The fabrics were mainly yellow and gray based - not a color scheme I would necessarily chosen, but I liked the bright yellow to lighten up the long winter.
Cat helped me cut out the pieces.
I used the pattern "Nordic Star Quilt" from the Shape Workshop for Quilters book as the main design feature. It involved making lots of angular petals for the flower blocks.
Then I sewed them all together in a ring to make the outer part of the fabric, and appliqued each flower onto the grey backing fabric.
The final product was inspected for quality by Official Quilt Inspector Kitten - Cadence, the Black Arm of Death (that's her full name). She found it to be mildly acceptable (high praise from her).
I bought additional Madrona Road fabric for the backing and binding.
Ta da! My second quilt, all finished up.
