Lil' Trekkie Baby Quilt

One of my old derby teammates announced she was going to have a baby, and I thought it was a perfect chance for me to try my hand at a baby quilt. Her husband is in a Star Trek themed band, so I went for a little trekkie quilt.

I started off making a stencil for the appliques. I made it out of cardboard and cut out a piece in each of the gingham fabrics.

I chose matching solids appliqued the Star Trek symbols on top like so:

I added squares of the various solids and stitched it all up. 

Beforemade sure it had the cat stamp of approval:

Overall I like the way it turned out. Live well and prosper, little baby.
